The Brewery

From our humble origins in Uptown Waterloo to our large-scale brewing in Kitchener, our dedication to craft quality rings true.

Philosophy

When it comes to brewing, we craft only with quality ingredients and sustainable methods.

Our master brewers handcraft recipes both traditional and new. And we do it without compromise.

State-of-the-Art Equipment

In 2015, we installed our new environmentally friendly state-of-the-art Brewhouse. Our Bavarian brewing technology and equipment were designed to operate sustainably – through improved material utilization, lower energy consumption and reduced waste and wastewater discharges.

In 2021, we installed our new Can Line that includes an extra set of energy regeneration zones to improve energy efficiency at higher speeds. Smaller upgrades around our facility like energy-efficient lighting, upgraded cooling systems, the installation of an Energy Monitoring System and two new high-efficiency boilers are also helping us lower our carbon footprint.

Let’s Cheers to

Better Beer

We’re officially certified under the Certification Body SGS FSCC 22000 for Food Safety, one of the highest and most internationally recognized standards for safe food production. Nothing matters more to our team than the quality and consistency of our beer, and that makes this important certification something worth raising a pint to. Cheers!

Four Simple Ingredients

The Origin Of Craft

You’ve come to a place where four simple ingredients rule the day: the home of Ontario’s first craft brewer, Waterloo Brewing, since 1984.

Barley

Many North American brewers use barley with six rows of seeds. It costs less to grow. But at Waterloo Brewing, we insist on the superior quality of 2-row barley.

Hops

At Waterloo Brewing, we take pride in sourcing a variety of premium hops to give our customers plenty of choice in the depth and bite so they can find their favourite brew.

Yeast

We never use default strains that do little more than create alcohol for us! We take the road less travelled in search of yeast strains bred for complex, more interesting side flavours.

Water

Our locally sourced water brings forward the character of our hops, giving our beers the elegant bite not found in mass-produced beers.

Brewing big and small brews

In addition to our Brewhouse, we also have a small pilot system in our Taphouse. It’s here that we experiment with ingredients, strategies, unique flavour profiles and brewing methods. These small batches are exclusively served in the Taphouse.
